Therapy for Adults with ADHD in London
Whether or not you take medication, living with ADHD can be about much more than focus. Many people come to me after a diagnosis, sometimes later in life, and find that while medication may help with concentration, it doesn't touch the years of feeling overwhelmed, misunderstood or "not enough". Others have chosen not to take medication and are looking for a different kind of support. Therapy offers space for all of this.
I have worked with adults with ADHD for over 15 years, including many university students.
What therapy can help with
People with ADHD often come to therapy with:
Overwhelm, stress and burnout
Shame and harsh self-criticism built up over many years
Low self-esteem and a sense of having underachieved
Difficulties in relationships, at work or at university
Strong emotions that can feel hard to manage
Grief or anger after a late diagnosis
How I work
My approach is integrative and paced by you. Together we explore how ADHD shows up in your life, and the beliefs about yourself that may have grown around it, so you can relate to yourself with more understanding and less blame.
I also use Heart and Mind, a model I've developed over many years. Through breath and body awareness, it helps you step back from a busy, racing mind and reconnect with how you feel. Many people with ADHD find this a welcome way to settle and come back to themselves.
Support for students
University can bring ADHD challenges to the surface, from deadlines and exams to independent living and new relationships. I offer therapy and mentoring for students, combining practical support with deeper emotional work. You can read more about psychotherapy and mentoring for students.
Medication and diagnosis
I don't diagnose ADHD or advise on medication, as those decisions are for you and your GP or psychiatrist. Therapy can sit comfortably alongside medication, or be a source of support if you've decided not to take it. If you're unsure whether you have ADHD, your GP can talk you through the options for assessment.
Practical details
Sessions last 50 minutes and usually take place weekly, in person at my consulting room on Queen Anne Street, just off Harley Street, or online. We begin with an initial consultation, a chance to talk about what has brought you here and see whether working together feels right.
